General error processing request

This is a catch all error on IdP. There are multiple reasons for this error, so let's check it out.

if you see these lines on your error log:

INFO  [IdP] -759215758                          - Processing SAML v1.1 Attribute Query request.
ERROR [IdP] -759215758                          - Protocol Handler can only respond to SAML Attribute Queries.
ERROR [IdP] -759215758                          - Error while processing request: org.opensaml.SAMLException: General error processing request.

then that means you have hit the AA or Artifact url with incorrect SAMLRequest, or you have mis-registered on metadata (e.g. putting /AA URL instead of /Artifact URL). You need to check your entries in metadata and make sure they are correct. Go to Federation Manager and put the right entry.

alternatively if this error can be generated when the IdP gets very confused regarding the relying party (SP), so check on the log above the error lines to see how IdP identifies SP (and whether it has identified it correctly)
